As the end of term arrives on Friday we are thinking about the holidays! We asked our Parent Ambassadors what they will be up to. Now the MCOs are a distance memory and travel is freely available many are taking the opportunity to visit places near and far, with our Parent Ambassadors heading to the UK, Dubai and more locally Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Cambodia. Safe journeys to all those traveling this holiday season. 🎄🎁🌟

If you are staying in KL and feel like catching a show over the break some of our very talented drama and dance students will be appearing in external productions over the next few weeks. Here's some details.

Evita

EVITA A4

Venue: KL PAC

The long awaited and welcomed return of Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music to Bentley Music Academy this December collaborating in one of the all-time great musicals, EVITA by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.

Directed by Jason Langley and conducted by Kevin Field, this semi-staged concert performance is the third such event between BMA and CQU and will feature emerging talent from Malaysia and Australia, side-by-side with the Orkestra Radio Televisyen Malaysia and dancers from Sri Wilayah Ballet Centre.

Our Y10 student Erin will be appearing in the Children's Ensemble.

Nutcracker

unnamed-1Dates: 23 - 25 December

Venue: PJ PAC

Land of Sweets? Sugar Plum Fairy? And the Mouse King? It’s not Christmas without a Nutcracker ballet…

Let’s embark on this magical journey as the dream of Clara unfolds the myth of the Nutcracker through a cinematic perspective accompanied by theatrical acting and classical ballet.
The elaborative stage effects of transforming the reality to Clara’s dream reminds you of the lavish interior of Mr Staulbahm’s home, extravagant Baroque style party dresses and the curtains never draw without bringing the winter wonderland to life by filling the whole stage with continuous fluttering of the crystal-shaped snowflakes (which will be kept and used repeatedly after each show). The extensive setting of the stage complements the full-length ballet as the Nutcracker and Clara hop onto the hot air balloon, travel across Land of Sweets whilst dancing through the Waltz of Flowers, they stumble upon the Land of Snow. The snowstorm strikes, awakens the reality and transcends the snowflakes into dust on the rusty bench of an empty street.
Oh, life is but a dream.

Our Y7 student Xavier is playing Fritz - Clara's brother.

The Sound of Music

En Year 6Dates: 27th December - 15 January

Venue: Istana Budaya

The world's best-loved musical, The Sound of Music, is premiering in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia this December with a brand new international production.

This highly acclaimed original production tells the uplifting true story of Maria, the fun-loving governess who changed the lives of the widowed Captain von Trapp and his seven children by re-introducing them to music, and culminating the family's flight across the Austrian mountains as tensions rise prior to the outbreak of World War II.

Our Y6 student Huang En is playing Brigitta, one of the younger von Trapp children.

Whatever you are doing this Christmas break have a wonderful time and we'll see you back in school for Term 2 on Tuesday 10th January!
