Calling all young writers and creative minds! It's that time of the year again when the FOBISIA Short Story Competition is back, and we're thrilled to announce the 2023-2024 edition. This year promises to be even more exciting and inspiring as we invite students to showcase their storytelling talents. So, sharpen your pencils and fire up your imaginations because it's time to get writing!
Who Can Participate?
This year's FOBISIA Short Story Competition is open to students in Years 1-13. At primary, there are three categories to choose from, each with its unique topic and word limit:
Year 1 and 2: "BEEP, BOOP BUZZ!"
- Write a captivating story in no more than 400 words.Year 3 and 4: "MY FRIEND THE ROBOT"
- Craft an engaging narrative within 500 words.
Year 5 and 6: "VIRTUAL REALMS"
- Dive into the world of Virtual Realms with a compelling story limited to 500 words.
At secondary, there are two categories to choose from, each with its unique topic and word limit:
Year 7, 8 and 9: “Distant Galaxies”
- Create an epic piece within 800 words.
Year 10, 11, 12 and 13: “Virtual Vs Reality”
- Write a unique story in more than 800 words.
How to Enter?
Entering the competition is simple! Here's what you need to do:
- Write your masterpiece following the specified theme and word limit.
- Ensure your story is typed in Arial font size 12.
- Include a captivating title that reflects your story's essence.
- Primary entries should be sent to Mrs Ebsworth at lebsworth.jb@alice-smith.edu.my
- Secondary entries should be submitted to the 'English Dept Competitions' GClassroom. The code to join is ytzaal7.
- All submissions must be clearly named with your full name and year group.
Submission Deadline
Hurry, you wouldn't want to miss out! The deadline for submitting your entries is Monday, 15th January 2024. This allows our dedicated team of judges ample time to select the winning entries from each year phase. Unfortunately we are only allowed to submit one KLASS entry per category.
