Student Success Stories Achievements head students senior prefects

Following a highly competitive selection process, we are proud to introduce our Head Students and Senior Prefects Team for the 2026- 2027 academic year. With nearly 70 applications submitted for just 28 senior leadership positions, the process reflected not only the depth of talent within our student body, but also the commitment, initiative and passion students have for contributing to the wider school community.

The newly appointed prefects had a short handover period with our Year 13 students and have now stepped confidently into their roles, beginning to lead their respective teams. Together, they represent a diverse range of interests, strengths and ambitions, united by a shared commitment to service, leadership and student voice.

Leading the team as Head Students are Illyas, Robbie, Avni and Yasmin who will work closely with staff and students to support and strengthen the wider school community.

This year’s Wellbeing prefects, led by Hailey and Ananya are focused on encouraging open conversations around wellbeing and ensuring students feel confident accessing support when needed. Across the school, they hope to strengthen awareness of the many opportunities available for students and staff to prioritise wellbeing and connection.

More than anything, this new team reflects the importance of student leadership at Alice Smith School - creating opportunities for students to lead with purpose, contribute to the wider community and shape school life in meaningful ways. Through collaboration, initiative and service, our prefects play a vital role in strengthening the sense of connection, inclusivity and belonging across the school. Student leadership is not only about organising events or representing a subject area; it is about developing confidence, responsibility and the ability to inspire others. Whether supporting wellbeing initiatives, championing creativity, encouraging participation or giving students a stronger voice, each prefect team contributes to building a community where every student feels seen, supported and empowered.

As they begin their journey as student leaders, we look forward to seeing the ideas, energy and passion this new team will bring over the coming year as well as the lasting impact they will have on both their peers and the wider school community.
