This year, our students have given us every reason to celebrate as we mark another outstanding set of A Level and IGCSE results at the Alice Smith School. Behind every grade is a story of determination, perseverance, growth and the support of a community that believes in every young person’s potential.
Excellent A Level results and exciting university destinations
Our A Level students have achieved excellent results, with 77% of grades awarded at A* - B and 50% awarded at A* - A. Alongside their academic achievements, students have secured places at leading universities across the UK, the US and beyond, opening the door to an exciting range of future pathways.
74% of students with confirmed UK university places have secured places at Russell Group universities. Of the 74 students holding confirmed UK places, 55 will be attending a Russell Group university.
The strength of our students’ university destinations is further reflected in the QS World University Rankings. 51% of students with confirmed UK university places have secured places at universities ranked in the QS World University Rankings Top 100 (38 out of 74 students). Looking more broadly at the QS Top 150, this rises to 55 out of 74 students, or 74%.
When confirmed US and Canadian destinations are included, 74% of students with confirmed UK, US and Canadian university places have secured a place at a university ranked in the QS Top 150.
Also, very impressively, 13 of our students have secured places at universities ranked in the QS World University Rankings Top 10. This includes six students heading to Imperial College London, ranked joint second in the world; one to the University of Oxford, ranked fourth; three to the University of Cambridge, ranked sixth; and three to University College London, ranked joint eighth.
Two students have also secured places at the prestigious Ivy League universities, Yale University and Brown University.
Our students are pursuing an inspiring range of future careers, with four confirmed to commence a Law degree in 2026 and six to study Medicine, alongside many other exciting courses and pathways.
These destinations represent more than impressive statistics. They reflect the individual aspirations, interests and hard work of each student as they take their next steps beyond Alice Smith.
IGCSE success built on progress
Our IGCSE students have also achieved a strong set of results, demonstrating the progress they have made throughout their secondary education. 82.6% of students achieved A* – B and 69% achieved A* – A.
Each grade is the result of hard work, determination and growth along the way. This year’s results reflect the exceptional progress our students have made throughout their IGCSE journey, with an overall Value Added score of +0.8, placing Alice Smith in the top 10% of all schools for value added.
Value Added measures the progress students make compared with their starting points, making this result particularly significant. It shows that our students have made exceptional progress overall and highlights the impact of their learning, development and the dedication of our teaching staff.
Results are important, but they are only one part of a much bigger story. At Alice Smith, we want our students to leave school not only with strong academic qualifications, but also with the confidence, curiosity and courage to pursue what matters to them.
A celebration of students and community
Head of School Dr John Knight praised the achievements of this year’s A Level cohort, saying:
I am so proud of all of our A-Level students for their remarkable exam achievements. The results are among the very best globally and having spent many years leading schools in the UK and Europe, I know our results would be the envy of many of the top schools in the region. The 99% pass rate makes me just as proud as the excellent number of A* grades. Congratulations to all of our students.
His comments capture what makes these results particularly meaningful. Academic success is not simply about the number of A* grades achieved. It is also about every student reaching their potential, overcoming challenges and moving forward with confidence.
We are incredibly proud of our students and all they have achieved. We also recognise the teachers, support staff and families who have encouraged, challenged and supported our students throughout their journey.
From IGCSE classrooms to A Level study, university applications and the anticipation of new beginnings, this year’s results represent a significant milestone for our students.
As they prepare to embark on the next chapter, we hope they carry with them the qualities that define the Alice Smith experience: the courage to explore, the confidence to ask questions and the ambition to make a positive difference.
Congratulations to all our students, we cannot wait to see where your journeys take you next.
