Community & Charity Community 80th anniversary

In 2026, the Alice Smith School marks a remarkable milestone - 80 years of inspiring young minds, building community, and shaping futures. This anniversary is more than a celebration of the past; it is a year-long journey that honours our heritage, celebrates our people, and looks ahead to the possibilities of the next 80 years.

The celebrations kicked off on Saturday, 25 April at our Family Fun & Health Awareness Day organised by our Parent Teachers Association (PTA). A great celebration of our community coming together. From fun-filled moments to shared connections, every corner reflected the spirit that makes Alice Smith so special.

Here is a list of activities in place with more events to come throughout next year.

80 Tiny Wonders

We launched 80 Tiny Wonders, a fun photography activity designed especially for our youngest learners. Rooted in curiosity and discovery, students from Preschool to Year 7 are invited to explore the small, often overlooked details that spark their imagination.

They are encouraged to capture something that genuinely “wows” them - whether at home, on campus, in a shopping mall or anywhere else in their everyday world.

This initiative is a reminder that meaningful learning often begins with the simplest moments, and that curiosity remains at the heart of an Alice Smith education.

Unsung Heroes Documentaries

At the core of our community are the people who shape it every day. Unsung Heroes Documentaries gives our Secondary students the opportunity to recognise and celebrate individuals whose quiet contributions make a lasting impact. Through student-created films, these stories shine a light on the dedication, kindness and commitment that define our school. These are not just documentaries; they are meaningful tributes that will form a lasting archive of appreciation and connection.

80 Cities, One School

Our global community is another defining part of our story. With 80 Cities, One School, we celebrate the incredible reach of our alumni network through an interactive map that showcases where Alice Smith graduates are now. From Kuala Lumpur to cities around the world, this initiative highlights the diverse journeys of our alumni and the shared foundation that connects them. It is a powerful reflection of how far an Alice Smith education can take you and how those connections continue long after students leave our campus.

Postcards to the Future and a Digital Time Capsule

Looking ahead, we invite our students to imagine the future through Postcards to the Future and a Digital Time Capsule. These summer holiday activities encourage students to reflect on their hopes, dreams and predictions for the years to come. Alongside insights from alumni in our Future Forecast series, students are challenged to think about their role in shaping the future - not just for themselves, but for the world around them. These reflections will be preserved as a meaningful snapshot of this moment in time, to be revisited in years to come.

The Big Draw

Creativity and collaboration come together in The Big Draw, a large-scale community art initiative that invites students, staff and families to contribute to a shared visual masterpiece. Each drawing, mark, and idea becomes part of something bigger - a collective expression of identity, diversity and unity. It is a celebration of the creativity that thrives within our community and the connections that bring us together.

Community Gala Festival

A highlight of the year will be our Community Gala Festival on 1st November, held at the iconic Kuala Lumpur City Centre, close to where the school first began on Jalan Eaton. This special event will bring together students, families, alumni and friends for an evening of celebration, performances and shared memories. It is an opportunity to reflect on how far we have come while celebrating the vibrant community that continues to grow and evolve.

International Fest: Food & Cultural Bazaar

Our International Fest: Food & Cultural Bazaar will showcase the richness of our global community through food, culture and shared experiences. As part of this celebration, we are calling for 80 cooks from across our community to contribute to a commemorative 80th Anniversary Cookbook. This initiative not only highlights the diversity of our community but also captures the traditions and stories that connect us.

The year will culminate in a meaningful finale through our Graduation and Student Awards. This moment of recognition celebrates the dedication, achievements and journeys of our students, honouring the role the school has played in shaping their futures. As they step forward into the next chapter of their lives, they carry with them the values, experiences and spirit of Alice Smith.

As we celebrate 80 years, we are reminded that our story is not just about the past - it is about the people, moments and experiences that continue to shape our future. This milestone year is an invitation for our entire community to come together, reflect on our shared journey, and look ahead with excitement and purpose.

Here’s to 80 years of connection, community, and igniting futures - and to many more moments still to come.
