Kuala Lumpur, known for its iconic landmarks, rich history and friendly locals, is a wonderful place to raise a family. 

For those who are new to Malaysia’s capital city, or even for the people who have been here for a while but haven’t found the time to get out and explore, we wanted to help you discover some activities to do with your children.

In the list below, you’ll find local to-dos that provide both adventurous and educational opportunities for you and your family.

 

Petrosains Discovery Centre

The Petrosains Discovery Centre provides your family with a fun and engaging way to explore the wonders of science. 

Combining exhibits, activities and workshops in a hands-on, interactive and experiential way, the centre, located in the famous Twin Towers guarantees a full day of adventure. 

 

Kidzania Kuala Lumpur

Kidzania is a mini-city for four to 14-year-olds with 60 real-life job simulations. 

Your children will get the chance to become a pilot, firefighter, or police officer just to name a few of the many exciting positions they can try out. Not only will they have the opportunity to experience these jobs first-hand in a fun way, but they will also develop skills and financial literacy. 

This unique experience is located 20 minutes from the city centre in Mutiara Damansara. 

 

Aquaria KLCC

Picture escaping the heat of the day and making your way through a tunnel of water with mammals swimming all around you. This is just one of the exciting experiences you and your family will have at Aquaria

Located a short walk from the Twin Towers , your children will love getting to discover the 5,000 land-bound and aquatic creatures.  

 

Sunway Lagoon Theme Park

With a water park, amusement park, wildlife park, extreme park, scream park and Nickelodeon lost lagoon, Sunway has something for every member of the family. 

Located 25 minutes from the city centre, make sure to leave plenty of time to explore the 90 attractions across the 88-acre amusement park. 

 

Farm In The City

This activity will create the illusion of exploring a farm in the countryside. 

Located 30 minutes from the city centre, you and your children will have the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur while also getting the chance to both pet and feed the furry friends. 

Farm In The City includes a free-flight bird aviary, a reptiles cavern, a clear-water lake, a pet village, longkang fishing, a jungle walk, a Malaysia vegetable farm and an orchard. 

 

KL Bird Park

At the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park, you and your family will feel as if you’re escaping the city and being immersed in a tropical rainforest. 

Only a 10-minute drive from the city centre, the four zones within the park give you an up-close look at 3,000 local and foreign birds of approximately 200 different species. 

 

Skytrex Adventure

At Skytrex Adventure, just 50 minutes from the city centre, you and your children will have the opportunity to have an outdoor adventure. This activity combines flying, swinging, dangling and climbing as you make your way through the aerial course in the rainforest.

Make sure to bring sunscreen, bug spray and lots of water.

 

Berjaya Times Square Theme Park

If you and your family want to escape the outdoor heat, but still want the thrill of a theme park, Berjaya Times Square is the perfect option. 

Just an 8-minute drive from the city centre and as the largest indoor theme park in the region, there are options for whatever ride or activity your family is craving.
