Primary Library Renovation: Celebrating the Joy of Reading with Our Community Artwork
Library key stage 2

The Key Stage 2 (KS2) Library Renovation Project has been completed, and the space now boasts a fresh, inviting atmosphere that encourages reading and learning. Last year the KS2 library got a brand new look and we were able to reconfigure the space to create a flexible, comfortable and welcoming environment for our community.

The Library renovation included the following enhancements:

  1. Personal Study Booths: These private spaces provide a quiet and comfortable environment for students to focus on their reading and studies.
  2. New Circulation Desk: The updated desk streamlines the checkout process and enhances the overall functionality of the library.
  3. Reading and Relaxation Area: This large, open space features purpose-made stadium seating, allowing students to comfortably engage with their reading materials.

There was only one thing missing - the walls needed something to show that special Alice Smith feeling. A school-wide art competition was launched with the theme of 'The Joy of Reading'. The response was overwhelming, with over 100 submissions from students, staff, and parents.

It was an incredibly difficult job to choose the winners, but we finally managed to select 20 pieces to frame and hang in the KS2 library. The selected pieces are now displayed proudly in the library. Thank you to everyone who took part and congratulations to the winning artists.

The KS2 library is open to families every morning from 7.15 to 7.45, and Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoons from 2.30 to 3.30. We invite you to visit and enjoy the competition winners' artwork, as well as check out a few books while you're there.

Huge appreciation to our competition winners:
