Learning Spotlight
The Alice Smith School Juniors curriculum is undergoing an exciting transformation!
- We're moving towards a concept-based inquiry approach for Science, History, Geography & DT.
- Students will delve deeper into big ideas and develop transferable skills by asking questions, exploring local contexts, and making connections across different subjects.
- This innovative approach will empower them to become independent learners and "spark courageous exploration to inspire a better world."
We endeavour to provide an engaging, creative and inspirational curriculum where children have agency to investigate and explore deeper learning opportunities within topics through research, questioning and interviewing experts, in order to fully emerse themselves and gain a greater understanding of the topics we cover in class. During Term 1a we will learn about-
- Living Things and their Habitats
- Persuasive Writing
- Poetry
- Place Value
Term 1b
- Creative Arts, Deepavali performance
- Stories from Other cultures
- The Girl Who Planted a Tree
- Food and Nutrition
- Additiona and Subtraction/Shape
