Learning Spotlight
The Alice Smith School Juniors curriculum is undergoing an exciting transformation!
- We're moving towards a concept-based inquiry approach for Science, History, Geography & DT.
- Students will delve deeper into big ideas and develop transferable skills by asking questions, exploring local contexts, and making connections across different subjects.
- This innovative approach will empower them to become independent learners and "spark courageous exploration to inspire a better world."
During Term 1a we will learn about-
- How we are unique and belong to a school community.
- How art can be used to help storytelling.
- How forces allow structures to remain standing.
- How place value supports our maths skills.
- How we can confidently add and subtract numbers.
Term 1b
- How we navigate the world around us and how we can protect it.
- How to write formally and informally.
- How to multiply and divide numbers.
- How to calculate mass of objects.
Parent Resources
We use a variety of resources to help support your children. Useful online information and resources for parents can be found below.
